UPSC Syllabus for Preliminary Exam
This preliminary exam has two papers. Such as General studies (GS) paper-I and Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT).
UPSC Syllabus for General studies:
The General studies part of the UPSC exam will test the General Awareness of a candidate in various domain such as History, Polity, Economy, Geography, Environment, Science and Technology, International Relations, and Current Affairs.
- Current events of national and international importance.
- History of India and Indian National Movement.
- Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
- Indian Polity and Governance -Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
- Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity, and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.
- General Science.
UPSC Syllabus for CSAT:
- Comprehension;
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability;
- Decision-making and problem-solving;
- General mental ability;
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level),
- Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. — Class X level);
UPSC Syllabus for Main Exam:
The successful candidates from the UPSC Preliminary exam can appear in the UPSC Mains exam. The Mains exam of the UPSC tests the student’s in-depth knowledge and ability to present instantly. There are 9 Papers in the UPSC Main exam.
Of them 2 are Language paper, the other two are Optional paper, one belongs to Essay paper. The remaining four paper is divided into General Studies I, II, III and IV.
- UPSC Syllabus for General Studies Paper-I: This includes syllabus from Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society.
- UPSC Syllabus for General Studies Paper-II: This includes syllabus from Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations.
- UPSC Syllabus for General Studies Paper-III: This includes syllabus from Technology, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management
